Rear Brake Hose Replacement for Chevrolet Alero Export 2001
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

General Information.
- Clean the dirt and foreign material from the brake hoses and fittings.
- Remove the rear brake pipe (3) from the brake hose (1).
- Remove the retainer clips (4) from
the brake hose (3).
- Remove the brake hose (3) from the bracket (1).
- Remove the rear brake hose retaining bolt (3) from the rear brake
hose (2).
- Remove the brake hose (2) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the brake hose (2) to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rear brake hose retaining bolt (3) to the rear brake hose (2).
Tighten
Tighten the retaining bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the brake hose (3) to the
bracket (1).
- Install the retainer clip (4) to the brake hose (1).
- Install the rear brake pipe (3)
to the brake hose (1).
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Bleed the brake hydraulic system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Lower the vehicle.
