Transmission Fluid Replacement for Chevrolet Chevy C Silverado - 2WD 2006
Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the oil fill plug.
- Place a suitable drain pan under the transmission in order to catch the
drained transmission fluid.
- Remove the oil drain plug.
- Remove any old sealant from the transmission housing and plugs.
Installation Procedure
- Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004
(Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent to the treads of the oil drain
and fill plugs.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the oil drain plug.
Tighten
Tighten the plug to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Fill
the transmission to just below the bottom of the fill plug hole. Refer to
Lubrication Specifications
.
- Install the oil fill plug.
Tighten
Tighten the plug to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
