Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe Replacement for Chevrolet Chevy K Silverado - 4WD 2003
Removal Procedure
- Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to
Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement
in Engine Mechanical
- 8.1L.
- Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve pipe bolts (3).
- Remove the bolt (4) from the right side head.
- Remove the EGR valve pipe nuts (5).
- Remove the EGR valve pipe (2).
- Remove the EGR gaskets (1).
- Clean the EGR valve pipe mounting surfaces.
Installation Procedure
- Install NEW EGR gaskets (1).
- Install the EGR valve pipe (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the EGR valve pipe bolts (3).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the bolt (4) to the right side head.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the EGR valve nuts (5).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
