Wheel Cylinder Replacement for Chevrolet Colorado Pickup - 2WD 2008
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the rear brake shoe assembly. Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
.
- Remove the brake line from the wheel cylinder.
- Using a plug, plug the brake line as not to allow dirt or the brake fluid to be contaminated.
- Remove the mounting bolts for the wheel cylinder.
- Remove the wheel cylinder from the backing plate.
Installation Procedure
- Install the wheel cylinder to the backing plate.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the wheel cylinder mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel cylinder mounting bolts to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Remove the rubber plug from the brake line.
- Install the brake line to the wheel cylinder.
- Install the brake line fitting.
Tighten
Tighten the brake line fitting to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).
- Install the rear brake shoes. Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
.
- Bleed the brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Check the fluid lever in the master cylinder. Refer to
Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
