Air Conditioning Compressor Bracket Replacement for Chevrolet Corvette 1998
Removal Procedure
- Remove the compressor from the vehicle.
Refer to Compressor Replacement
.
- Remove the compressor drive belt tensioner from the compressor
bracket, if necessary.
- Remove the compressor drive belt idler pulley from the compressor
bracket, if necessary.
- Remove the compressor
bracket mounting bolt.
- Remove the compressor bracket from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the compressor
mounting stud to the engine block.
- Install the compressor bracket onto the compressor mounting stud.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the compressor
bracket mounting bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the compressor bracket mounting bolt to 50 mm (37 lb ft).
- Remove the compressor mounting stud.
- Install the compressor drive belt idler
pulley from the compressor bracket, if removed.
Tighten
Tighten the compressor drive belt idler pulley to 50 N·m
(37 lb ft).
- Install the compressor drive belt tensioner from the compressor
bracket, if removed.
Tighten
Tighten the compressor drive belt tensioner to 25 N·m
(18 lb ft).
