Fuel System Cleaning for Chevrolet Corvette 2007
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the
Fuel Pressure Relief
.
- Drain the fuel tanks. Refer to
Fuel Tank Draining
.
- Remove the fuel tanks:
- Remove the fuel sender assemblies. Refer to
Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module Replacement - Left Side
and
Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module Replacement - Right Side
.
- Inspect the left fuel sender strainer. Replace a contaminated strainer for the left fuel sender only, and inspect the fuel pump.
- Inspect the left fuel module fuel pump inlet for debris. Replace the left fuel module assembly if you find debris in the fuel pump inlet.
- Inspect the right fuel module screens. Replace the right fuel module assembly if you find a contaminated screen. The right fuel module screen in not serviced separately.
Important: When flushing the fuel tanks, handle the fuel and water mixture as a hazardous material. Handle the fuel and water mixture in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Flush the fuel tanks with hot water.
- Pour the water out of the fuel module assembly openings. Rock the tanks to be sure that removal of the water from the tanks is complete.
- Install the fuel module assemblies. Refer to
Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module Replacement - Left Side
and
Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module Replacement - Right Side
.
- Install the fuel tanks:
- Refill the fuel system.
- Install the fuel filler cap.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Perform the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:
| 16.1. | Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds. |
| 16.2. | Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds. |
| 16.3. | Turn the ignition switch ON. |
| 16.4. | Inspect for fuel leaks. |
- Program the transmitters. Refer to
Transmitter Programming
