Ignition Coil Replacement for Chevrolet Impala 2005
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil that is
being serviced.
- Remove the ignition coil screws (1).
- Remove the coil (2) from the ignition control module (3).
Installation Procedure
- Install the coil assembly (2) to the ignition control module.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the ignition coil screws (1).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).
- Connect the spark plug wires to the ignition coil that is being
serviced.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
