Automatic Transmission Mount Frame Bracket Replacement for Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1997
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Caution: To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide
additional support for the vehicle at the opposite end from which components
are being removed. This will reduce the possibility of the vehicle falling
off the hoist.

- Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tires
and Wheels.
- Remove the left engine splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.
- Use floor stands to support the transaxle.
- Remove the transaxle mount frame bracket to the transaxle mount lower
nuts. Refer to
Transmission Mount Replacement
.
- Remove the transaxle mount frame bracket nuts.
- Remove the transaxle mount frame bracket bolts.
- Remove the transaxle mount frame bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Position the transaxle mount frame bracket to frame.
- Install the transaxle mount frame bracket bolts.
- Install the transaxle mount frame bracket nuts on the bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the transaxle mount frame bracket bolts to 58 N·m
(43 lb ft). Refer to
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

- Install the transaxle mount frame bracket to the transaxle mount
lower nuts. Refer to
Transmission Mount Replacement
.
- Remove the support from the transaxle.
- Install the left engine splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.
- Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tires
and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
